Main Memory

This area of the organisation stores information and instructions. The information or data is stored in binary. This is a number system that is used throughout the Percy Processor organisation.

The main memory area contains many different memory locations. Each location, or place, can store 8 binary digits (bits ) of data. Memory is measured in bytes and 1 byte is equal to 8 bits. A binary digit can only be 1 or 0.

The main memory has two different types of memory called Random Access Memory and Read Only Memory.

ASCII -------------- --------------1 0 1 0 0 0 1 1

The Memory Brothers and every other member of the Percy Processor organisation use this code. It stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange.
Basically each character on the keyboard has a special code number. This number, which is in binary, is unique to that character.

Here is the table that you will need to work out what any coded message means.
