Liz Chisholm, Grove Academy 's Principal Teacher of Art was keen to use the work of Picasso as a theme for introducing her S2 classes to image manipulation using suitable software. With limited resources, 4 desktop PC's in the department,which are regularly used by the other Art teachers with their pupils, it was going to be a difficult task.

Liz has considerable experience in using image manipulation packages both on the PC and Apple platforms and was keen to introduce these key interdisciplinary skills into her classroom practice.

The school has a booking system for computer rooms but available time is limited. Also, from a software standpoint, there was no image manipulation software installed on them so it was really a non-starter. Following a feasibiliy study where specific tasks were carried out on the tablet, the conclusion was that although the operating speed was a bit slow and the pen was a bit tricky to use, it should be possible to complete the project this way.
